Crackdown Begins on Non-Custom Paid Vehicles in Punjab
Owners of non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles in Punjab may soon face serious consequences as the government ramps up efforts to identify and take action against such vehicles. The Punjab Home Department has asked police authorities to submit a detailed report on all NCP vehicles seized, auctioned, returned, or disposed of in the province.
This step follows clear instructions from the Central Apex Committee under the Revised National Action Plan (NAP 2021), which focuses on curbing illegal activities across Pakistan. One of the major points of concern has been the use of non-custom paid vehicles, which are often smuggled into the country and not registered properly.
To ensure strict action, the Home Department has reached out to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations to collect accurate data. The order was then passed on to police officers across Punjab, including Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs), directing them to gather and report all necessary information about NCP vehicles in their respective areas.

However, as of early April, the police had not yet submitted the requested report. Some officers even claimed they were unaware of the directive. This delay has raised concerns about coordination and communication between departments, especially when dealing with an issue as significant as illegal vehicles.
The crackdown is part of a broader strategy to strengthen internal security and reduce illegal trade. Authorities believe that removing NCP vehicles from the roads will help reduce crime and ensure that all vehicles in the country are properly documented and taxed.
Vehicle owners who are currently driving non-custom paid cars should be aware of the risk. With this new push, the chances of these vehicles being seized have increased. It’s strongly advised to avoid buying or using such vehicles, as the government appears determined to take firm action.
This is a warning for those who have avoided legal vehicle registration—time may be running out.
